The fifth yearly contest saw more than 500 ladies from around Brazil town to Sao Paolo to be judged on their derrieres. The number was later whittled down to 15 finalists and Miss Cortez, from Distrito Federal, beat off energetic rivalry to take the current year's title.
Bottoms are a thing of national pride in Brazil, where some Carnival wonders have been accounted for to get their behinds secured by insurance agencies.
