Reports have it that President Muhammadu Buhari has selected Professor Mahmood Yakubu as the new chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
As indicated by Daily Trust, the president affirmed this appointment amid the emergency Council of State meeting held today.
Briefing state house journalists after the meeting, the Sokoto state Governor Aminu Tambuwal, educated that the new INEC chairman arrangement counts with the significant procurements of the 1999 Constitution and in interview with the Council of State.
The acting chairman of the constituent body, Amina Zakari, will now be the INEC Commissioner speaking to the North-West close by four different officials.
Dr Anthonia Okoosi-Simbine (North Central); Alhaji Baba Shettima Arfo (North-East); Dr Mohammed Mustafa Lecky (South-South) and Mr Soyebi Adedeji Solomon (South-West) are alternate magistrates who were affirmed today.
Yakubu is a professor of political history and international studies, and was the official secretary of the tertiary instruction trust reserve.
